KENNEWICK, Wash. – The historic Cascade Building in downtown Kennewick has a heartbeat once more after two devastating fires nearly destroyed it.
It has been under construction for nearly a year. Kagen Cox, a local business owner, and his business partners bought the Cascade Building to preserve that historic piece of Kennewick while introducing new living spaces to an already family-friendly atmosphere.
“Cynergy is key,” said Cox. “Everybody down here seems like they all have the same mission. They want to make downtown as awesome as they can. Be a part of the growth; be a part of the change for good. There’s been so many people way before me that have just invested so much time and energy to make it great down here.”
Cox stated that the building has six spaces, three of which have already been leased. The apartments range from studios to two-bedroom units, and prices range from $1300 to $1700 monthly.
The Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership, in partnership with the City of Kennewick, is holding the “Downtown Kennewick Walkable Brokers Tour” on Thursday, January 30th, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Alora Stegall with the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership says the area has fifteen properties available for lease or sale. These properties can be used to find a place to live or bring a new business downtown.
Someone at all locations will answer any questions about the spaces. Stegall mentions that she has worked in the area for a while, and seeing properties like the Cascade Building come back to life is a game-changer.
“We’re not only going to have more residential space returned but the opportunities for commercial space,” said Stegall. “As far as I know, there are a variety of sizes to play with. It leads to any number of possibilities.”
While the apartments are ready to be leased, Cox states that the bottom floor is still a work in progress. Once the job is completed, even more exciting opportunities will be available.
The Cascade Building apartments offer even more options for downtown living. Adding more residential space to the downtown area is crucial for local business owners and addresses the ever-growing need for housing.
