Historic Craftsman becomes Portland’s most-viewed home before $1.2M sale. See inside

An updated 1911 Craftsman house overlooking Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge in Southeast Portland sold for its asking price of $1,195,000 after just 16 days on the market.

The corner-lot property on Southeast Sellwood Boulevard was listed Aug. 13, with the sale closing Aug. 29

In between, the two-story classic Craftsman house was the most viewed Portland area home for sale on the real estate marketplace Redfin among the metro’s 3,613 homes for sale.

Listing agent Melisa Pierson of Windermere Realty Trust highlighted several features that attracted home shoppers to the 3,066-square-foot house:

  • The modern kitchen has marble counters, sleek wood cabinets, Rejuvenation Hardware fixtures, high-end appliances and a wine fridge. “The seller did a beautiful job selecting finishes that blended in with the original charm of the home,” Pierson told The Oregonian/OregonLive. “A built-in breakfast nook and herringbone wood floors make this room a showstopper.”
  • The home’s abundant light was another selling point. With coved ceilings and well-positioned windows, the house is bright and filled with natural light, Pierson said. ”The clean white walls really helped it feel spacious.”
  • The views were also noteworthy. Every room in the home on Sellwood Bluff has a beautiful view of the westside, she said.
  • The wide covered front porch also offers views of the city skyline and nature. “It’s the perfect place for morning coffee or evening cocktails,” Pierson said.
  • The home’s original charm has been preserved. Oak floors and built-in cabinets, shelving and storage units have remained intact over 114 years. Updated fixtures were selected to complement vintage fixtures.

The main floor includes a living room and dining room, both with large picture windows, as well as a sitting room. Upstairs, the primary suite has a laundry space and there are two more bedrooms.

The finished attic, with skylights, is a media room and the unfinished basement includes an underground garage.

The backyard has a stone patio and greenery. “Make this your home and you will have the best view of fireworks in town,” stated the real estate listing.

The buyer of the 3,920-square-foot property in the Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood was represented by Claire Paris of Paris Group Realty.
